Truth and Reconciliation

In 2008, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada was launched to document the history and impact of the residential school system on indigenous people. The commission concluded in 2015 and published a multi-volume report with 94 calls to action to redress the legacy of residential schools.

The commission received criticism from both sides where some say that it does not do enough to atone for harms committed, while others say that the report is biased and overstates amount of harm done.

What do you think of the commission and their findings? What should we do as Canadians and indigenous people to recognize our history and move forward?
